What is PTSA?

Cougar Ridge Elementary Parent Teacher Student Association is a non-profit, 501(C) (3) tax exempt organization. Our mission is to help make every Cougar Ridge student’s potential become reality through opportunities that support and enrich our children, school, and community. Our organization is made of Cougar Ridge community: parents, teachers, staff, and students who all have the common goal of providing every child an enriched education. The PTSA is run by elected board members who volunteer their time and oversee the operation and finances of our non-profit.

We are the largest child advocacy group in the United State. The more members we have, the Louder our voice is when it comes to advocation for our children's education, health and safety in the Washington State Legislature.

The PTSA is also a great way to network with other parents, teachers, and staff to share ideas, concerns, and experiences.

What We Do?

Educational Advantage: We want our children to receive the best education and the Cougar Ridge Elementary PTSA provides additional learning materials and opportunities beyond what the district and state fund. We are proud to fund the grade level enrichment grants for each grade level and classroom. We also fund stipends for teachers and specialists to help purchase additional classroom supplies. This funding makes a big impact on our children’s education and is made possible by donations from our families.

Enrichment Programs: Every year, PTSA hosts Chess Club, Spelling Bee, Robotics Club, STEM Night/Science Fair, Art Fair, Art Docent, and Reflections (a national art program).

Family Events: These community-building events help bond our Cougar Ridge community together. These include Back to School Socials, Bingo Night, Spooky Spaghetti, Book Fair, Heritage Festival, Movie Night, Lunar New Year Celebration, and the End-of-Year Carnival.

School Spirit: PTSA creates a beautiful and fun yearbook full of great memories. We also make spirit wear so kids can proudly represent Cougar Ridge on school spirit days - GO BOBCATS!

Teacher Gratitude: PTSA loves to show our thanks to teachers and staff with events like Meet the Teacher, Monthly Staff Luncheons, and an all-out Staff Appreciation Week.
