If your child is interested in joining Chess Club, please do the following FOUR things prior to October 13th application deadline:

1) Read the Chess Club Rules & Syllabus. We expect all students to abide by the Club Rules. Please review these rules with your child before the first meeting. Also, please review the Chess Club Syllabus. We ask you play chess once a week at home with your child to help establish concepts.

2) Print and fill out the Chess Club application and safety agreement. Email forms to Randi Letendre. Chess club is accepting 40 applicants after a lottery. You will be notified October 14th via email of acceptance or waiting list status.

3) Sign up to volunteer as a parent helper once during the school year. Chess Club is a parent-run club and we rely on your help. Click here to sign up.

More Information: Chess Club does not meet on days school is not in session. We will be meeting after school at P-6 and encourage kids to eat snack and fill up their water bottles. We will start a 10-15 min lesson at 1:30PM and end our hour with practicing the concepts of the lesson and playing. Parents are always welcome at club meetings to help sign kids in, match kids with designated partner, play a game of chess, check equipment in and out, keep kids engaged, and encourage chess etiquette. Please always plan on picking up your child promptly at 2:30pm. We will have a waiting list. If you choose to drop chess club please let us know ASAP so someone can take your place. If we have spaces for session 2 we will redraw a lottery from the wait list.  Snacks are provided by teachers this year.
